FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Establishing a nonprofit organization to help battered women and their children is fulfilling a vision and desire Debra Nixon-Bowles has had for many years. Her passion for this cause is driven by her own personal experiences with domestic abuse in her childhood and as an adult. Debra is committed to helping others achieve their “Goals of Excellence” and has devoted countless hours to educate and empower individuals that are affected by domestic violence. Debra Nixon-Bowles is committed to helping others overcome obstacles, break down barriers, and ACHIEVE! She has a knack for opening the right doors for great business opportunities and simply will NOT take no for an answer. Debra knows “HOW TO WORK IT“ and effectively “WORKS” every strategic angle when securing a deal for her clients. Once you have encountered Debra, her passion, and her zeal for life… YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!
CHERYL GANT
An IT professional turned entrepreneur, and the proud owner of With Love Candle Studio, a blossoming candle company that crafts exquisite, scented creations. Cheryl is passionate about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere through the power of beautifully scented candles. Beyond candles, we are passionate about fostering a community centered around self-empowerment. We promote mindfulness, personal development, and eco-conscious living. We believe in the collective power of like-minded individuals coming together to create positive change in their lives and the world. This is why we’ve chosen to partner with Women Called Moses Outreach and Coalition (WCM); an organization that is near and dear to our hearts at With Love Candle Studio. WCM brings awareness to the epidemic of domestic violence and delivers much needed resources to the women and families needing assistance with leaving their abusive environment.
The hardest-working woman in radio! A trailblazer and industry leader who has been entertaining radio audiences for years. Entertaining, empowering, and enlightening are just a few words that describe this powerhouse media mogul. Her talent, work ethic, and personality are the reasons why she is one of only a few women nationwide to have her very own nationally syndicated morning show. After co-hosting the nationally syndicated radio program "The Doug Banks Show," DeDe now hosts her own nationally syndicated radio show, "DeDe in the Morning" (syndication managed by Compass Media Networks), heard weekday mornings on KKDA/K104 Dallas, Texas. DeDe has appeared on CNN, FOX, Oxygen, and BET and has interviewed world leaders from President Obama to Hillary Clinton, to celebrities such as Jay Z and Beyonce. She is a philanthropist, community activist, mentor, and volunteer. DeDe McGuire strives to continue being a popular media personality, strong working woman, and entrepreneur.
DEDE MCGUIRE
Has a passion for teaching an educating others on trends that are affecting the estate of the Black community. Currently, he is working on a Doctorate in Leadership with a concentration in Absence Black Leaders. His previous experience in Law Enforcement afforded him multiple experiences in community service, counseling domestic violence, public speaking, spiritual counseling, and violence training.
JERRY CASTON
As a graduate of University of Oklahoma, Lorraine Dixon earned a BA in Social Work, with a minor in Early Childhood Development. She also obtained a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Lorraine worked for the Environmental Protection Agency for over 20 years, Enforcement, and served as Special Counsel on cases. Currently, she works in the Grants Division. A mother of four, Lorraine Dixon enjoys reading, dancing, and traveling.
LORRAINE DIXON
Born and raised in Forest Hill, TX. She is the daughter of Howard and Annie Lusk. The mother of two beautiful daughters Trinity Reign and Shiloh Zion Gardner. Patrice graduated from O. D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth, TX. She matriculated at The University of Grambling State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Patrice is a member of the illustrious Sorority Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated. She started a career in communications after graduation worked there for 20+ years as a Project Manager and Director of Operations. She decided to leave the industry when her children were early grade school age to work in education. Patrice is the founder of Fighting Uprightly Incorporated an organization she and her late husband Andre Gardner founded when he became diagnosed with ALS. She is one of the founders of an amazing Podcast Mahogany Tea Time. Patrice is also an entrepreneur owns her own AirBNB business and housing for travel Nurses. She is currently working to obtain her Real Estate License. She loves to buy homes, make repairs, put her touch on them and return them back to the market. Her hobbies consist of traveling, reading self help books, journaling, singing, dancing and spending time with her amazing family.
PATRICE GARDNER
REMEKO TRANISHA EDWARDS, ESQ
Born in Selma, Alabama. She graduated from Lancaster High School. Judge Edwards obtained her Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington and became an employee of Dallas County Juvenile Department. Remeko filled the roles of a Detention Officer, Court Coordinator, and Probation Officer many years before she entered law school. Judge Edwards received her Juris Doctorate Degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas and was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in 2005. The Law Office of Remeko T. Edwards was open and provided legal representation to those in need of effective advocacy for over 15 years within the state and federal court systems prior to being elected as Presiding Judge of County Criminal Court No. 7 in Dallas County, Texas November 2018. As of January 1, 2019, Remeko Tranisha Edwards was sworn in as Judge of County Criminal Court No. 7 where she currently presides and serve as the first African American Judge of this Court. Remeko Tranisha Edwards is a mother of two young men, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a faithful member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Her work in the community consists of volunteering her time as a member of the Board of Directors of “Women Called Moses,”- A Domestic Violence Organization, Board of Directors of Christian in Public Service (CIPS), a Board Member of the “Mexican American Bar Association” (MABA-Dallas), a Board Member of “We the Village” that serves students with incarcerated parents, Past President of Dallas Black Criminal Bar Association, a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.

Our Story
For nearly 20 years, Women Called Moses, under the leadership, vision and passion of founder Debra Nixon Bowles, has given wings to the hopes and dreams to thousands of women in the underserved communities in the southern sector of Dallas. As a business leader, mother, and survivor, Debra understands the spoken and unspoken needs, experiences, and aspirations of many women who find themselves stressed and navigating the unpredictable violent behaviors of their partners.

WCM operates under the guiding principal of “Safety First!” A woman’s safety provides the foundation for her to have peace of mind and aspire for greatness for herself and her children. A troubled foundation is a dangerous platform to build upon because the house will collapse.
A woman’s safety fuels her hopes and dreams. It is the springboard for her children to grow their imagination and realize their potential. To make this possible, Women Called Moses has expanded its vision from not only providing emergency safe havens for survivors, but in developing and implementing programs that provide solutions to the evolving challenges of abuse.
